Wetland Mitigation Techniques for Wetland Creation Success
Bruce Workman was an invited speaker at the 2016 Delaware Wetlands Conference hosted by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. Bruce’s topic was “Establishment of Wetlands for Permit Mitigation – The Process and Lessons Learned”.
This overview slide highlights the four major factors in wetland creation success. Bruce carefully documented the site selection process, the need for test pits, test wells, soil analysis, and properly preparing a water budget.
Without describing his entire presentation, one of the most important steps after carefully designing the wetland and the planting plan is monitoring during construction. Working together with the site crew constructing the wetland will ensure that the design envisioned is implemented as planned. Cooperation with the construction crew and planting team is essential to success. For more information, contact Bruce Workman.
